Do you love the spooky season too? Let's talk about our current pick, Dead Romantics. How about some other suggestions for spooky reads?

I have to admit, I am new to spooky romances. Now in full transparency, back in my teenage years, I appreciated the Twilight Saga (please don’t judge me) and enjoyed the paranormal/romance connection. But unfortunately, Edward and Bella’s sparkling romance was not enough to light my fire. Perhaps, we can blame it on the baby name (Renesmee just does not work), or maybe just the fact that after New Moon, I was just reading so that I could compare the books to the movies. Fast forward many years later (you can do the math), I read one book that lit my fire again, Dead Romantics.

Dead Romantics kind of fell into my lap when I was in a reading slump. I went to the local book  store, and searched through the Romance section, hoping to find my next read. After reading the back cover, I decided maybe I needed to shake things up a bit and give a paranormal romance a chance.

What I love about Dead Romantics is the perception of death. I know I have said this in the podcast (if you haven’t listened yet, you may not have heard it), but I love the way that the book views death. I appreciate the way that the FMC in the book understands that in order for people to truly rest in peace, sometimes a resolution needs to happen, and she is there to help the dead find that resolution.

Overall, I loved the flow of the book, the characters, and the paranormal/romance connection. It was a quick read that I have already added to my re-read list. Yes, I have revisited it once already. This book has also opened the door for other spooky romances. Again, I admit, I am new, so don’t judge me on my short list.

Spooky Romances I have enjoyed:

  • Bride

  • Gracie Meets the Grump

  • Morbidly Yours

  • The Love of My Afterlife

Please add a comment with paranormal romances you enjoy, so I can build my TBR list!

Stay Foxy,

Jess
